ETIAS: Europe’s New Travel Authorisation for Visa-Free Visitors

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will become mandatory for visa-exempt travelers to most EU countries — including Israeli citizens heading to the Schengen area.

How it works

ETIAS is not a visa. It is an online authorisation linked to your passport, valid for up to three years or until passport expiry. Approved applications allow stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

• Application is fully online — no embassy visit required.
• Processing normally takes minutes, but can take up to four weeks in flagged cases.
• You must travel with the same passport used in the application.
